This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Richard Hervey who was born in United States on September 16, 1918 and passed away on February 19, 2012. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.

ROCHESTER –Richard J. Hervey, 93, of Rochester, NH, passed away on Sunday, Feb.19, 2012, at his home in Rochester following a period of failing health.

He was born in Rochester, NH, on September 16, 1918, the son of Richard A. Hervey and Irene Rumazza. After is mother passed when he was four years old, he was raised by his grandparents, Peter and Mary (Orino) Rumazza who came to the United States from Italy. He grew up on Portland St. and attended Rochester schools. After graduating from Rochester High School, he served in the Army from Jan 1941 to Jun 1945. He was assigned to Battery B, 197th Coast Artillery (A.A.).

He worked as caretaker for the Klefos estate on North Main St in Rochester. He also worked for Conrad Snow managing his properties in downtown Rochester. He was a member of the Rochester volunteer fire department. He worked for the City of Rochester as a school bus driver from the early 60’s retiring in the 90’s. He enjoyed talking about automobiles, spending time at the beach with his family, camping with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline (Fisher) Hervey, of 62 years in February 2007. He is survived by two daughters, Louise Wood and her husband Perry Wood of Sanford, ME, and Janice Hervey of Middleton, NH; two grandchildren, Michael Wood of West Newfield, ME, and Marcia Wood of Portland, ME; two half brothers, George Hervey and Charles Hervey, both of Rochester, NH. Other surviving family members include Bob Rubino of Rochester, Jean Anne Twombly of Rochester, Janet Willkins of Shamong, NJ and Janice Aborn of Hancock, NH.

At his request there will be no services and burial will take place in the Spring.
